Valderroa Carballo is a municipality wine which is produced exclusively on the oldest Mencía pezas (plots of land) of Valdeorras. These pezas are located on extremely steep slopes with a northern exposure in the municipality of Carballeda de Valdeorras, the highest in Galicia, where the purest black slate rock in the world can be found. It is a standard bearer of so-called extreme viticulture and is a wine for ageing which explores the variety’s most intellectual and vertical side.
